About
Music is my life
Born in 1991 in Gorau, India. I have been living and working in Vienna and India since 2014.
I received my first musical training in singing and tabla by my grandfather Ustad Roshan Khan
and afterwards by my brother Ustad Iqpal Khan Gorau. Ustad Saraj Khan taught me exclusively in tabla and recommended me to the tabla maestro Ustad Hidayat Khan. The maestro taught in the classical Guru-Shishya-tradition (Delhi and Purab Gharana).
In 2012 I graduated from the Bombay University of Music with a diploma in tabla. At the moment I am taking lessons in tabla at Pandit Yogesh Samsi ( Panjab Gharana).
I founded the Indian ensemble ‘ The Folk Brothers’, working with classical Indian instrumentalists and singers, f.e., Partho Sarodi, Ashim Chawdhury, Amir Khan, Adnan Khan, Pandit Ramdas Palsule, Ustad Liyakat Ali Khan, Ustad Dilshad, Ankita Deole Damle, Pandit Chiranji Lal Tanwar, Pandit Hanuman Sahay as well as with renowned musicians of various styles, f.e., Mr. Dunkelbunt Ulf Lindemann, Harri Stojka, Peter Scholl, Philipp und Kaveri Sageder, Skero, Robin Gillard, Mehdi Aminian, Gerhard Buchegger, Paul Wallfisch, Bernhard Schimpelsberger, Golnar Shahyar, Mahan Mirarab, Romana Kasheer, Peter Gabis and many others.
In the field of interdisciplinary performance art, I take part and work in projects such as in 2022 Mythos Mozart – a multimedia event, in 2022 a story-telling concert ‘Dream Journey’ at the Musikverein Vienna – in 2017 Hollywood in Vienna with the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra in the Concert Hall Vienna.
As a passionate musician I teach tabla, singing and harmonium in Vienna as well as in India.
My pedagogical approach is to promote joy in music, creativity and to strengthen the sense of rhythm.
